Located in Jefferson City, Missouri Field Violins is dedicated to meeting the stringed instrument needs of all ages, providing quality instruments and service for beginning, intermediate and advanced players of all instruments of the violin family. We provide a full range of stringed instrument set-up, sound adjustment and repairs. We also maintain an active inventory of instruments and bows. Some of those are represented on the website but there are numerous other instruments and bows in the shop.

Stringed Instrument Inventory

Very resonant rich tone even across all strings. Soft luminous oil varnish.

Beautiful violin with unique inlaid ebony & mother-of-pearl scroll. The neck and scroll do not appear to be orginal to the violin. Stamped “FA” on the button & at the end pin. Very clear tone that projects very well.

Not genuine Pressenda but likely Bohemian ca. 1850. Nice one-piece back with full arching. Has strong warm tone. A few repaired cracks to top and cheek patches to peg box — all very solid.

Good German violin with nice mellow tone. Some varnish damage along treble side of finger board.

Very nice Stainer model with carved lion’s head. Strong, focussed tone on all strings.

Repairs to the top but in very good condition. Has a strong clear tone on all strings. Double purfling similar to Maggini with beautiful one-piece back.

Excellent intermediate level violin built in the Guarnarius style by the Virgil Bandila workshop in Reghin, Romania. Superior materials, oil varnish and ebony fittings with a very deep responsive tone.

Excellent quality student violin built in the Stradivarius style by the Virgil Bandila workshop in Reghin, Romania. Oil varnish with very pleasing sound that projects very well.

Modern violin ca. 2000 that appears to be higher quality chinese work. Well crafted with good focussed sound.

Unlabeled violin constructed in Mittenwald style. One-piece back with a big open sound. Ca. 1950.

Violin with “H.B. Royal Academy Violin No. 31″ stamped on back of the scroll. Listed in the C.G. Conn catalog in 1895. Beautiful shaded varnish with a very pleasing mellow sound.

Appears to be South German or Austrian showing influence of Stainer in the arching. Repairs to the table and back — all solid and secure. Grafted scroll — possibly later. Strong pleasing tone across all strings.
